THE Nigerian Guild of Editors will be having a dinner scheduled for April 10, to raise N850 million for its secretariat complex. The event, which will be held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, will be hosting President Goodluck Jonathan as the distinguished guest of honour, and all the State Governors as special guests.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the special guest of honour at the event, which will be chaired by former petroleum minister, Jibril Aminu. Aremo Olusegun Osoba, former Ogun State
governor, will deliver the keynote address, while the Labaran Maku, the minister of Information, will be the chief host. Many governors and captains of industry have indicated their willingness to be physically present at the epochal fund raising ceremony.

Restating the need for eminent Nigerians and corporate organisations to support the project, Femi Adesina, president of the NGE, said the proposed Editors Plaza would greatly improve the practice of journalism in the country as up-to-date facilities would be at the disposal of top professionals in the field to make them compete globally. “With the planned ICT centre and training and retraining packages planned, we can only compete with the best,” he said.

The eight floor plaza will house offices and training facilities that will be open to all journalists.
