NGO organises Dialogue on peace-building for Kaduna communities

 A non-governmental organisation in Kaduna State, ‘Mercy Corps’ , in collaboration with USAID, on Monday organised Consultative Dialogue on peace-building for stakeholders from some communities in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, which took place in Kaduna, featured stakeholders from Kaduna-North and Kachia Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Danjuma Saidu , Conflict Technical Adviser of Mercy Corps, said the organization had been  working
with different communities in the state, with participants trained on different approaches to peace-building.
He said the purpose of the event was to bring stakeholders together   to discuss the activities of their communities with a view to charting the way forward.
Also speaking,Mr Emmanuel Shall, Senior Programe Officer of the organisation, said one of the programmes introduced was  Community Accountability Mechanism Programme.
 According to him, the programme is about commitment, which talks about the dignity of people that are in crisis situation and need help to live in dignity like other human beings.
In her remarks, Chairperson of International Federation of Female Lawyers, Kaduna State chapter, Mrs Zainab Atoba, said the programme was apt as it trained people  from different communities on peace-building.
She called on citizens to do more by alerting authorities about strange people coming to their  communities, just as she admonished parents to live up to their responsibilities of proper upbringing of their children.
 She also tasked married women to always  enquire about the source of income of their husbands , and not just enjoy suspicious wealth from their spouses without questioning its legitimacy.(NAN)
