CREATIVE Associate International, non-governmental organisation, says it has trained 120 stakeholders from Numan, Demsa, Guyuk and Lamurde local government areas of Adamawa.

Mr Ben Sunday, the Programme Officer of the organisation, announced this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Jos.

According to Sunday, the exercise organised under its project, Nigeria Northeast Connection, was in collaboration with the Adamawa State Peace Committee and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The programme officer explained that the organisation had also established a Traditional Peace and Arbitration Committee in Numan, Guyuk  and Lamurde,  in addition to the one crated by the state in Demsa.

“The aim of the workshop is to build the capacity of the participants on strategies to counter violent extremism, conflict management and conflict resolution.

“It is also to ensure peacebuilding and social cohesion among different groups of people in the beneffiting areas by looking at underlying grievances that are causing disaffection among community members

“We have also expanded the Traditional Peace and Arbitration Committee to cover three additional local government areas to the existing one created by the state government, bringing the number to four in the state,” he said.

Sunday further explained that the training, which held seperately for 30 participants each from the four local government areas, began on Aug. 24 and is expected to end by Sept. 7.

He explained that the Northeast Connection is a unique programme designed to provide opportunities toward building on existing efforts to achieve a common goal in stabilising and entrenching peace in communities.(NAN)
