NGOZI Anyaegbunam, president of Media World and former first female editor with Champion Newspaper, has died after a brief illness in Abuja, aged 67.

A statement by Rocky C Agbese, her son, announced her death in a press release made available to Realnews on Sunday, November 3.

The release reads: “With gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the untimely death of Dr Ngozi Fidelia Anyaegbunam after a brief illness.”

Anyaegbunam was a trailblazing journalist, who had editorial stints with Champion Newspaper (1st female editor) and The Daily Times (where she authored the book Waziri Ibrahim: Politics Without Bitterness). She was born in October 1957 at Damaturu in modern-day Yobe State to late George and Victoria Anyaegbunam.

After this, she became a full-time media management consultant to numerous blue-chip companies.

She was also a female print media journalist who interviewed two sitting presidents of Nigeria (Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari).

A dedicated, loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, auntie, and friend, Anyaegbunam will be sorely missed by all who encountered her and were impacted by her larger-than-life presence.

“Rest in Peace till we meet to part no more!!”, the release said, adding that funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
