HASHIM Angama, Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), FCT Chapter, has called on Nigerians to support the federal governments’ effort toward making the country a better place.

Angama, who made the call in his reaction to President Muhammadu Buhari’s independence day speech on Thursday, also urged residents of the FCT to always strive for peace and unity of the country.

He added that the three tiers of government required the support and encouragement of Nigerians to be able to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

Angama stressed the need for Nigerians and residents of the FCT,  in particular, to strive to project an attitude of unity, peace, and togetherness, which had always kept Nigerians together as an undivided nation.

The APC secretary, while congratulating the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), on its 36th anniversary, also appreciated the FCT Minister for his leadership qualities.

“We have decided to throw our full support and prayers to the leadership of the FCT Administration led by Muhammad Bello whose governance has tackled issues of revenue generation, taken infrastructures seriously and has utilised other glaring opportunities for boosting its economy.

“We have also seen the willingness of the administration to open up and embrace the numerous opportunities for private sector investments, including some being driven directly by the APC-led government at the Federal level.

“The Bello-led administration has succeeded in attracting more investors than the past administrations.

“The dreams of the founding fathers of Abuja have been motivated by consistent policies of the FCT and those of its area councils.

“Recently in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), the Chairman, Mr. Abdullahi Candido, obtained an operational license from NSCDS for the security outfit know as AMAC marshal Guards, created by his administration, which is quite commendable.

“AMAC Microfinance Bank and the AMAC Investment and Property Development Company are all duly licensed and functioning.

“We as a party are proud of the developmental projects taken to the people by all our council chairmen in the FCT.

“This the first time we are witnessing genuine steps being taken to engage the private sector in the development of the FCT as this will bring an end to the dwindling revenue generation and job creation opportunities.

“It is a total deliverable of projects, job creation with the active participation of the private sector.

“All these are in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment toward lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

“So, I sincerely want to congratulate Nigerians for celebrating Nigeria at 60 and the good people of AMAC for celebrating the council at 36,” he said. (NAN)
