NiMet predicts 3-day sunshine, haziness from Wednesday

THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunshine and haziness across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Tuesday in Abuja, anticipated moderate dust haze on Wednesday in the northern region, with localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m.

”In the North Central region, slight dust haze is expected throughout the forecast period. The southern region will experience sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere, accompanied by early morning mist and patches of clouds.

“Thunderstorms with light rains are predicted over parts of Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States during the afternoon and evening hours.”

According to NiMet, on Thursday, moderate dust haze with localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m is anticipated in the northern region.

The North Central region will experience moderate dust haze, while the southern region will have sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere.

“For Friday, dust haze is expected in the northern and North Central regions, while the southern region will experience sunny skies with patches of clouds.”

NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions, as dust particles are in suspension.

“People with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues are cautioned to be aware of the present weather conditions.

“Strong winds may precede rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur.

“The public is advised to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities. Airline operators are also advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective planning.
