OBADIAH Mailafia, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has resigned from the National institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.
His resignation was confirmed by Yakubu Bawa, his lawyer, to reporters in Jos, on Tuesday, stating that the NIPSS has accepted his resignation.
Realnews reports that Mailafia, former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2019 elections, was also a director at the NIPSS, which is a think- tank institution.
Realnews reports that Mailafia has been in the eye of a storm following his explosive interview with a radio station during which he alleged that a governor in the North is a commander of Boko Haram. He quoted intelligence he gathered from repentant Boko Haram members to support his claim.
He made the statement while reacting to the insecurity in the country and the incessant killings in Southern Kaduna.
Following the interviewing security agencies including the Department of State Security and the police invited him for an interview.
Mailafia went to the High Court on Monday, August 24, to seek for protection of his human rights and to stop the security agencies from harassing him.
