GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kwara, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem, has promised to rejuvenate the local government tier of government if elected.

Prof. Abdulraheem made the promise at the palaces of Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi and the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, during his campaign tour of Kwara South senatorial district.

The former vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin added that he would organise local government elections within six months of his administration if elected.

He urged the traditional rulers to start scouting for honest members of their communities to be local government leaders.

Responding, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Gbadamosi, prayed to God to grant the aspirations of the former vice-chancellor.

He said Prof. Abdulraheem is a well-known individual to him and told the NNPP candidate that his stand and prayers are always that God will give the position to who has the development of Kwara at heart.

At the palace of Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Adeoti said Prof. Abdulraheem’s antecedents as University of Ilorin vice-chancellor were enough to campaign for him.

He saluted the NNPP candidate for making the university a cynosure of all eyes during his tenure as vice-chancellor.

He also offered prayers for the candidate and urged members of his team not to give him bad suggestions or advice.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abdulraheem later met with his supporters at designated venues to present his manifesto. (NAN)
