NDI Anambra have been warned against engaging in `hate speeches and inappropriate use of words’ capable of compromising the integrity of individuals and institutions.

The warning was handed down during a meeting with president-generals and publicity secretaries (Town Criers) of 179 communities in Anambra State.

The meeting was convened at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Addressing the people, Governor Willie Obiano described them as key players in the development of the state.

Obiano, who said he recognised their pivotal roles in their various communities, enjoined them to safe guard government property in their communities.

“Do not allow vandals, hoodlums and other miscreants to have access to government property let alone damage them.

“My administration is attracting enduring projects to every community.

“The ongoing N20 million choose your project initiative are geared toward attracting physical governance and empowerment of the youths in every community.

“At the end of my next four years, every community must have benefited at least eight meaningful projects that will improve the lives of the people and boost commercial activities in the areas,” he said.

Obiano cautioned them to be mindful of information they disseminate, but he enjoined them to promote the good works he accomplished in their areas to uplift the state.

The governor, however, promised to incorporate them in different agencies and boards and to compensate them at the end of their tenure in office.

Tony Nnachetta, the commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, also described them as fundamental partners in the development of the state.

He said that every effort and measure would taken by Obiano to improve the state.

Maja Umeh, a former commissioner for Information and the chairman APGA Reconciliation Committee, noted that the present administration had touched every aspect of development simultaneously, including security, health and education.

Alex Onukwe, the national president, Anambra State Association of Town Union, ASATU, acknowledged the partnership of the association with government, which according to him has opened a new chapter for citizens’ participation.

Ejike Methuselah, the publicity secretary (Town Criers), commended government for recognizing them.

Ejike promised to always educate the people at the grassroots on the achievements of the present government.
