Oba of Lagos Warns against Indiscriminate Construction of Shops

RILWANU Aremu Akiolu, Akiolu I, Oba of Lagos, has warned unscrupulous people using his name in the indiscriminate construction of kee klamps and canters on the highways and market places within the Lagos Central Business District, Ebute Ero, Apongbon loop and other strategic places in the state to stop forthwith. Akiolu said anyone caught henceforth would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

In a statement from the palace released to the media on Friday, January 8, the monarch said he had observed for sometime the unwholesome development and decided to put an end to it by alerting the general public.

The monarch said such conduct would undoubtedly obstruct free flow of traffic and aid crime and criminality in those areas, adding that he had, therefore, alerted the commissioner of Police, Lagos State; Director of State Security Service as well as the executive secretaries of Lagos Island Local Government and Lagos Island Local Council Development Authority; Area Commander, Area A Lion Building and all divisional Police officers, DPOs covering Lagos Island “to ensure that people involved in the act are brought to book and assist government in ensuring free flow of traffic” in the areas.

The statement added that Akiolu would also send out his white cap chiefs and others to ensure restoration of sanity on Lagos roads.

“Henceforth, anyone caught in using my name to commit this criminal act will face the full wrath of the law”, the statement quoted Akiolu as saying.
