Odumegwu-Ojukwu University: Shocking Revelation!
Opinion
By Val Obienyem
TODAY, I encountered an old friend, a professor at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University, who informed me that upon Obi’s departure as Governor, his successor, Chief Willie Obiano, ceased the payment of the government’s share of contributory pensions.
As per my friend’s account, retirees from the university are at risk of being left without pension benefits. There is a shared hope and prayer that Governor Charles Soludo will address and rectify the numerous misdeeds of Obiano.
Criticism of Obiano’s incompetence may be perceived as malicious by some, but it is important to note that his actions regressed our state into barbarism. He ceased pension payments from 2017 until his departure.
Despite attempts to divert attention, such as highlighting the airport and conference centre projects, these were merely distractions aimed at appeasing narrow-minded individuals who would rather engage in their usual ranting than address the raised issues.
