THE Ogun Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Ade Akinsanya, says the state government has approved the construction of the Denro-Ishashi-Akute road, the Olusegun Osoba Road and the Molipa-Erinlu Road.

Akinsanya said this while speaking to newsmen after a virtual meeting of the state Executive Council in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

“The state executive council has approved the construction of the 4.65km Denro-Isashi-Akute Road,  and the 2.3 km Olusegun Osoba-Toyin Road in Agbado area, both in Ifo Local Government Area.

“It also approved for construction, the 3.2km Molipa-Erinlu Road which connects Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North East Local Government Areas in Ogun East Senatorial District,” he said.

The commissioner who described the good road as a catalyst for socio-economic development restated the state government’s commitment to massive road construction.

According to him, new road projects will be presented to the state executive council for approval every two weeks.

He said that Denro-Ishashi-Akute Road had been abandoned for several years, thereby, subjecting the residents to difficulty.

“The two other roads in Ifo Local Government are very important too as they serve as links to Lagos State.  They are part of the linkages we are relying upon to revitalise the economy.

“When completed, these roads will not only contribute to the socio-economic growth of the state, it will also help to improve the security architecture of the state,” he said.

Akinsanya said that the projects would provide direct and indirect employment for no fewer than 4,000 people in the state.

Also speaking, Remmy Hazzan, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communication, said that the state government’s housing project was ongoing in different parts of the state.

He said that the construction of affordable housing estates in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Kobape, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Ota, and Ilaro was underway.(NAN)
