IN a bid to maintain its dominance in Nigeria market, Total Nigeria has created Total service stations where a variety of customers needs are met in one place. Albert Mabuyaku, corporate affairs manager of the company, said the service stations were created as a result of increasing demand for convenient accessibility to petroleum products and other services as well as to be closer to its customers.

Mabuyaku, who stated on Thursday, April 21, during a media chat with some selected online publishers in Lagos, said that the company built 500 service stations, 19 customer service centres, numerous industrial outlets, five depots, distribution plants and warehouses across the country to enable it serve the customers better.

Apart from buying petroleum products at Total stations, customers can also purchase cooking gas, lubricants, insecticides, car maintenance and AWANGO solar. According to Mabuyaku, Total Nigeria is building sustainable human capacity in the country through its numerous projects like lead dealer scheme, AWANGO reselling project, African start upper challenge among others.

He said, “We have 500 stations across the country and over the last 60 years, we have been building capacity through these stations. We empower our pump attendants to become dealers in Total through our lead dealer scheme. We are also into charity and sponsorship of orphans and the less privilege ones through our SOS Villages.

“In 2015, we built a fish farm in Koko, Delta State for Esiateigwa Anthony, one of our Skill Acquisition Programme graduates. He graduated from Fish Farming Vocational Training under the programme’s 2014 batch and was provided with the fish farm to launch his business. In another development, we also commissioned the provision of school furniture for the library, computer room and all classrooms in Ugogomeje Nursery and Primary School, Koko.

“In 2015 as well, we commissioned the sponsorship of 10 orphaned children in SOS village, Owu-Ijebu, under our Child Care and Mentor a Child Programme. The children are housed in the village and cared for by their house mother and father. This sponsorship covers their school fees payment, feeding and clothing, while they are still in the village. This programme involves selected and willing employees acting as mentors to children in its SOS sponsored houses. The mentors monitor the growth and development of the children whilst loving and caring for them as their children. In addition to SOS village in Owu-Ijabu, we also sponsor two houses in Isolo, Lagos, and Gwagwalada, Abuja,” he said.

Mabuyaku said the electricity situation in the country made Total to develop AWANGO Solar to enable Nigerians have access to light in their homes. He noted that Nigerians can charge their phones with AWANGO. “Like we did in the petroleum stations, we are building another capacity with AWANGO Reselling Scheme. We give it to our sales persons on credit for them to pay the company after sales. We have also created security accounts for them to enable them build their career in Total and possibly become a dealers,” he said.
