The Ikare Progressive Association, USA branch, has congratulated Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on his re-election during the October 10 governorship polls.

President of the organisation, Mr Oludare Akintola, who conveyed the message in a statement on Thursday, said Akeredolu’s victory followed his “selfless and purposeful” leadership.

Akintola expressed appreciation to the governor for dualising the main access road to Ikare, a commercial city in the northern part of the state.

He also acknowledged the “great work” the Akeredolu administration “is doing on the Oke Alabojuto road” to which he said previous administrations paid lip-service just to get the people’s votes.

“But you worked and fixed the road even when it was not an election season,” he said.

The association’s president appealed for the resuscitation and restoration of “the Awara water works and the supply reticulation in the city”.

According to him, the project will provide word-class potable water supply to residents of Akoko North East and Akoko North West Local Government Areas when completed.

Akintola said “On our part, we have been partnering with your government by delivering standard toilet facilities and water wells to seven primary schools at a cost of US$4,200 (N1.6 million) for each toilet and water well.

“The projects have a tremendous impact on the lives of the pupils and their teachers.”

“We will continue to partner with your government to improve the quality of life of the citizens of our great state,” Akintola pledged. (NAN)
