THE Ondo State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 20 criminal suspects in connection with armed robbery, ritual killings, defilement and kidnapping, among other violent crimes in two months.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami, said this in his office on Thursday in Akure, while briefing newsmen on the recent operations by the command.
Salami said the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state between December and January 21.
He warned criminals and their collaborators to desist from their activities which, according to him, threaten the peace in the state.
The police chief said that the command had initiated fresh measures to deal with crime and criminalities.
He said that the command was aware of the nefarious actitivies of some disgruntled elements allegedly “providing infrastructure and comfort to criminal forces” to thwart police strategies to secure the state.
“But I am assuring them that their days are numbered, except they retrace their steps,” he said.
Salami said that the command was collaborating with other sister-security agencies and law-abiding residents to make the state uncomfortable for criminals and their collaborators.
“In the past few weeks, we have had several insinuations tending toward our concept of policing the state.
“But we do know some of us still bear in our minds the agonies of EndSARS protest and therefore feel that the police are not doing enough.
“The truth is that the police do not engage in advertising, but here are some of our achievements between the month of December and now,” the police boss said.
He charged journalists in the state to remain factual and always confirm their information on the activities of the command before publication.
