O’odua group alleges secret plot to destroy Yoruba economic assets

…as Alaigbo deplores attempt to link Igbo to destruction of assets

A PAN Yoruba group, Apapo O’odua Koya, AOKOYA, has alleged secret plots to destroy critical economic assets in Yorubaland by a combination of forces alien to the South West people. The group also tried to link Igbos, in particular Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to the orgy of violence in Lagos.

But the Alaigbo Development Foundation, ADF, has strongly denounced the allegation, stating the the #ENDSARS protest is multi-ethnic revolt by Nigerian youths and not owned or started by Igbos, IPOB or any other ethnic group.

Condemning the killings, violence and destruction of property in Lagos, the ADF said: “No matter how hard the strategists of the rotten system try to give #EndSars an ethnic, religious  or parochial coloration in order to crush it, such fraudulent tactics will only cause temporary pains to some members of the society, but it will not save a system that is now but a carcass waiting to be shoved into the bottomless pit of history.”

According to ADF,  “let no one unwittingly expose any nationality to isolated danger. Let us keep our mouths shut if all we have now is our loud mouth when the situation calls for a serious sober and strategic reflection and focus.”

ADF statement signed by Prof. Uzodimma Nwala, it’s president, on Wednesday night came on the heels of another one earlier issued same day by AOKOYA condemning in very strong terms the burning down of critical economic assets in Yorubaland by some evil individuals.

“What is going on is not attacks carried out by #ENDSARs protesters, but deliberate mayhem designed to turn Yorubaland into ruins. We cannot have a Yorubaland where public infrastructure are destroyed by rogues acting on behalf of some ethnic groups” the statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Ahmeda Akorede noted.

AOKOYA said the shooting of innocent protesters at the Lekki Toll gate was detestable and “extremely in bad taste” adding that the soldiers who killed innocent people in Lagos committed horrendous crimes.

“The killings are babaric. There was no justification for the killings. The officer who led the attack is of Fulani extraction. His name is Or Col Bello. The strategy is to kill the innocent people followed by a preplanned plot to cause violence in Yorubaland that would lead to the total destruction of Lagos industrial prowess.

He said there have been protests in other parts of the country but wondered why public properties belonging to the Yoruba were being set ablaze.

The group said “This is not the handwork of #ENDSARs protesters. This is the handwriting of anti-Yoruba forces coordinated from Abuja and by some non-Yoruba groups in Lagos who have a myopic judgement that the destruction of Yorubaland will reduce our territories to their own primitive levels.

AOKOYA said this mindset has a long time tradition among a people found of describing Lagos as a “no man’s land.” AOKOYA described the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu as an anarchist who lacks critical thinking and whose instinct is guided by a mob mentality

AOKOYA condemned the audio being circulated where Kanu was ordering his members in Lagos to attack the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo- Olu and also asking his men to burn down Lagos.

“Kanu cannot tell Yoruba who our enemies are. We are Yoruba. He should restrict his insane outbursts to the South East. We caution that Yoruba should prepare for a twin battle, first with the Fulani and also with the beast section of IPOB represented by Kanu.

“Why we re ready to work with Igbo people of good conscience we shall not tolerate a rash and infantile Igbo group whose main agenda is to destroy Yorubaland

The group condemned the burning down of TVContinental, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, branches of Guaranttee Trust Bank, GTB, Police Stations, Local Government Secretariats, several BRT buses,The Nation Newspapers among several others. These actions are irresponsible and could not have been committed by freeborn Yoruba men and women

AOKOYA said why they are burning down they have left Alaba, Ladipo and other Igbo areas and banks intact. “Kanu is destroying the potentials of Igbo-Yoruba relationship just the way he has earned himself the image of a rioutous mind that lacks the capacity to lead any sane society or cultured civilisation. We think it is in the interest of Igbo people to cut his wings before it is too late

“It is stupid and a complete lack of knowledge for anyone to target institutions that the future Yoruba Nation needs to reenergize itself. The destruction of these properties represent a setback for the Yoruba Nation” AOKOYA said

The group called on Yoruba people at home and abroad to unite against common enemies. “We are detested by rival ethnic groups. They fear and hate us basically out of envy of what God has endowed in Yorubaland. The only way out of these ceaseless hostilities is for the Yoruba Nation to work towards self determination where a sovereign Oduduwa Nation will emerge.

“With our own police, Army and security operatives, we can successfully provide security for all Yoruba people, secure our land and air and live in prosperity and eternal grace” the group stated.

However, Alaigbo Development Foundation in its statement entitled: “#ENDSARS IS A MULTI-ETHNIC REVOLT!”, also described the protest as a multi-socio-political as well as a multi-religious movement!

“Any Attempt to tag it a Yoruba Movement, an Igbo Movement, a Hausa Movement, etc Or even call it a Mend Movement, an IPOB Movement, a Boko Haram Movement, an OPC Movement, etc, is to trivialize an otherwise  tragic phenomenom set in motion by the contradictions bedeviling a Federal Republic that is nothing but a golgotha, a place like the Christian Calvary.

“#EndSars is not targeted against any particular politician or leader; it is rather a rejection of the entire rotten political leadership in charge of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Above all, #EndSars is a painful echo of the sigh of the entire youth and all those whose lives have been made meaningless and ruined by a rotten and oppressive political order.

“No matter how hard the strategists of the rotten system try to give #EndSars an ethnic, religious  or parochial coloration in order to crush it, such fraudulent tactics will only cause temporary pains to some members of the society, but it will not save a system that is now but a carcass waiting to be shoved into the bottomless pit of history.

“Therefore, let no one unwittingly expose any nationality to isolated danger. Let us keep our mouths shut if all we have now is our loud mouth when the situation calls for a serious sober and strategic reflection and focus.

“#EndSars is the sigh of the entire traumatized and oppressed youth – Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Tiv, Ijaw, Edo,  Efik, Ibibio,  etc. It is the sigh of the entire youth in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who are in search for their future. It is a multi-national, multi-religious and multi-socio-political REVOLT!” ADF said.
