GOVERNOR Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has commended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye-Ogunwusi, for donating two motorised modular fumigators to the state in support the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Bagudu, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Sama’ila Yombe, made the commendation while receiving the motorised modular fumigator by the Ooni of Ife’s representative, Oba Morani, in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

Yombe, who is also the state coordinator, Task Force Team on COVID-19, expressed the appreciation of the government and people of the state over the gesture while congratulating the royal father for leading the fight against the pandemic.

“The Kebbi Government will look forward to emulating the effort of the Royal Father in fabricating its own machine in the state towards complementing the stride in ensuring a COVID-19 free Nigeria.

“We kindly extend our profound gratitude to the Oba for the bold step he has taken to fighting the scourge, and hope to see individuals borrowing a leaf from him,” the governor said.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Prof. Esimai Olupeju, said, the motorised modular fumigator was an invention of the House of Oduduwa Machine and Tools. “This is part of His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife’s response to COVID-19 pandemic.

“The machine has a cabin which is about 75 Kilograms; a tank of about 1,000 litres which holds the disinfectant, sodium hypochloride in 0.5 percent concentration, and covers a wide range of about 20 to 30 litres radius,” he said.

Olupeju said that aside from COVID-19 infection, the fumigator could be used in the Agricultural Industry to dispense pesticides and insecticides.

“The machine can be placed in shopping malls, schools, worship centres and homes to disinfect people and for indoor fumigation, as it is a small machine,” she said. (NAN)
