Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister takes oath

ANWAAR-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday took oath as the prime minister of Pakistan’s caretaker government, according to local media report.
President Arif Alvi administered the oath of office in a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr presidential palace in the federal capital Islamabad.
The ceremony was attended by former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, his cabinet members, governors and provincial chief ministers.
Also in attendance were senators, political leaders, diplomats and high civil and military officials.
Earlier on Sunday, the outgoing prime minister in his farewell address to the nation expressed confidence that the newly appointed caretaker prime minister would ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country. (Xinhua/NAN)
