PCC resolves 3,051 cases in Kaduna

THE Public Complaints Commission PCC in Kaduna State, says it has resolved no fewer than 3,051 cases between January and April, as part of efforts to address administrative grievances in the state.
The PCC Director, Yusuf Ismail-Numan disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria NAN on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Ismail-Numan said that within the period under review, the commission recorded 3,358 cases brought before it, adding that 34 cases were resolved from the public sector, while 3,017 was from the private sector with 307 pending.
He noted that a significant proportion of the resolved cases were related to environmental issues, particularly waste management, and complaints against public institutions.
”We investigated these cases thoroughly and ensured that justice is served for those who approached the commission,” he said.
He, however, identified inadequate funding, poor logistics, and limited capacity building as major challenges affecting the commission’s operations.
”Investigation requires extensive fieldwork, and without proper funding and logistics, it becomes difficult to achieve optimal results.
”Continuous training is also essential to equip staff with up-to-date knowledge, while cooperation from government agencies and institutions under investigation remains critical,” he said.
The official explained that the PCC derived its mandate from the Public Complaints Commission Act, which empowered it to investigate administrative infractions in federal, state and local government institutions, as well as private organisations.
He urged members of the public to take advantage of the commission’s services by reporting grievances rather than suffering in silence.
”People should feel free to approach the commission. Once their complaints fall within our mandate, solutions will be provided.
”They must speak up and defend their rights at all times,” he said. NAN
