THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has expressed worry over incessant killings and kidnappings in some parts of the state, accusing the All Progressives Congress-led state government of negligence.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, John Akans, in a statement yesterday, said the latest of such ugly incidents was the killings in Jeneret village of Mangu Local Government Area and the kidnapping of four people in the area.
Akans said the ruling party had left Plateau citizens at the mercy of kidnappers and bandits.
“It is pathetic the way the APC has run Plateau State, but it is even worst that they are not even sensitive enough to feel the excruciating pains they have inflicted on the people day by day,” the statement also said.
However, in reaction to the accusation, the state APC Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Namang, denied the allegation, saying that the APC government was doing its best to address insecurity.
He said, “The issue is a very disturbing phenomenon to the APC government in Plateau State. That is why the Plateau State House of Assembly via an executive bill has passed a death sentence on kidnapping.
“Security is everybody’s business, including the PDP which is always celebrating rather than condemning this issue which is a national problem.
“The PDP should come out of its shell of blaming everything on the state governor who is doing everything to secure the state,” Namang added.
