THE Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, ASPHCDA, Chioma Ezenyimulu, says that the people peddling rumours about the COVID-19 vaccine do not mean well for people of the state.
“They only wish to poison people’s minds against taking the vaccine,’’ noted Ezenyimulu at the Amawbia Town Hall during the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency’s, NPHCDA, sponsored Local Government Area, LGA, level training held from March 16 to March 17.
The training took place ahead of the COVID-19 Vaccine Introduction exercise in the state.
A 10-day exercise shall hold from March 18 to March 27 at all LGAs of the state.
She urged the LGA health workers to do away with conspiracy theories such as the COVID-19 vaccine symbolised `666’, containing microchips or making one sterile.
“As health workers at the grassroots, you must help to dispel these rumours. This is the time for us to take charge of this exercise.
“I took my own COVID-19 Vaccine on March 11, the day it was flagged off in the state.
“I have not experienced any side effects, same with all others who received the vaccines at the flag-off of the ceremony.
“There is nothing to fear about the COVID-19 vaccine,’’ Ezenyimulu emphasised.
The ASPHCDA boss noted that priority in this phase of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise was the frontline health workers, who are in different capacities and include Primary Healthcare, PHC, general, teaching, private and mission hospitals.
Others are health workers in the Police, Army, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defence and Road Safety Corps.
“It also includes some key stakeholders in the state. Keep in mind when you are doing your micro-planning, so as to ensure that no group is missed out of the exercise,’’ she added.
While commending the state government for its efforts in ensuring the success of the campaigns, she urged the health workers to take the exercise seriously.
She, then, urged them to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks, social distancing and regular hand-washing were obeyed throughout the exercise.
