Peter Obi lists criteria for selecting presidential candidate in 2023 election

PETER Obi, the former governor of Anambra state and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has listed the criteria for Nigerians to choose their leader in the 2023 general elections.

According to Obi, “The election that we are going to have next year will not be about tribe, not religion, not corruption, not entitlement, it must be an election about character, competence, capacity and commitment.”

He said this at the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, 62nd Annual General Conference on August 22, at Eko Atlantic City hotel, in Lagos state. 

His statement received applause by attendees at the conference who cheered him after his speech, saying: “we’ll change this country, we’ll change the narrative.”

The conference was also graced by various dignitaries including Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, former vice-president and Kashim Shettima, the vice-presidential candidate for the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Famous novelist Chimamanda Adichie delivered a keynote speech at the event.

However, the presidential candidates for the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were absent at the event.

The whirlwind News reported that the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dumebi Kachikwu, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo, were also present at the conference.

The NBA AGC started on Friday, August 19th and will end on Friday, August 26th.
