Petrobras to Get Highest Award at OTC

Petrobras, Brazilian national oil company, is to receive the highest award at the Offshore Technology Conference which starts from May 3 to 7, in Houston, United States

PETROBRAS of Brazil at the Offshore Technology Conference, OTC, the world’s biggest event dedicated to offshore oil exploration and production will receive the OTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organisations, and Institutions – the highest recognition that an oil company can receive as an offshore operator.

Petrobras directors Solange Guedes (Exploration and Production), Hugo Repsold (Gas and Electricity) and Roberto Moro (Engineering, Technology and Materials) will be attending the conference. Petrobras’ participation in the event will begin on Sunday, May 3, with the awards dinner. The company was chosen in recognition of the set of technologies it has developed for production in the pre-salt layer, and the award will be received by Guedes.

On Monday, May 4, Eduardo Braga, Brazil’s minister of Mines and Energy, and Guedes, Repsold and Moro will visit the company’s booth at the fair. This space will feature audiovisual and interactive content about Petrobras’ pioneering technologies for pre-salt exploration and production.

A statement from the company said that on Tuesday, May 5, Guedes will give a talk on “Pre-Salt: What Has Been Done So Far and What is Coming Ahead”. On the same day, there will be a technical session about pre-salt, called Pre-Salt: 8-Year Journey from the Wildcat Well to more than Half-million Barrels per Day. This session, which will be opened by Anelise Lara, Petrobras’ executive manager for the Libra Area, will be divided into seven presentations, all given by Petrobras technicians and executives.

On the afternoon of the same day, the work undertaken in the Sapinhoá and Lula Nordeste pre-salt fields will be examined in a session called Sapinhoá Lula NE – Project Challenges & Lessons Learned while on May 6, Petrobras technicians will present their work regarding safety processes in offshore operations, during the Offshore Process Safety: Past, Present and Future session.
