Police Demolish Kidnappers’ Hideout in Ekiti, Arrest Cultists, Others in Rivers

A HOUSE allegedly used by suspected kidnappers and ritualists in Ilawe-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ekiti South West Local government area of Ekiti State has been demolished by men of the Nigeria Police.

The demolition took place under the watchful eyes of residents of the community under the supervision of the Alawe of Ilawe -Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi.
The traditional ruler while speaking with journalists after the demolition, expressed gratitude for the swift response of the Police.

“We thank the State Police Command for their swift response to the calls from our community, it shows that we still have hope with the Police force”.

“I want to assure the entire people of Ilawe Ekiti that all those trying to hide under the cover of traditional worships in the town to commit crime against humanity would be made to face the law,” he stated.

On his part, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Alberto Adeyemi urged communities to always see the Police as their friend work effectively with them in ensuring a crime free state.

Meanwhile, the full trial of one Sunday Adetolaju, a deity priest in the community accused of masquerading as an Oba has commenced at the Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court.

The accused was arraigned for appointing chiefs contrary to the Chiefs law of Ekiti State.

In another development the police said it has arrested suspected cultists who were part of a gang that allegedly killed four persons in Rivers State.

The suspects were said to have buried the severed heads of their victims in a forest in Ikwere and Emohua local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Zaki Ahmed, disclosed this on Monday at the Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Ahmed was speaking while parading over 60 suspected cultists, robbers and kidnappers with a large cache of arms and bags of hard drugs.

He also revealed that the Police arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper who allegedly abducted and killed a traditional ruler in the state.

The Police Commissioner added that the Command busted some criminal hide outs and routed hoodlums suspected to be responsible for various criminal acts along Owerri- Port Harcourt Road and Elele axis among other parts of the state. – News Rangers
