THE Youth Wing of the Mada Development Association (MDA) has advocated mandatory debate for all aspirants seeking election into political offices in the country.

Mr John Umaru, National President of the association, made the call while addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Akwanga, Akwanga Local Government of Nasarawa state.

He said the call became imperative to enable the electorate vote for candidates based on their vision to add value to the society.

Umaru appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties in the state to zone their governorship ticket to Nasarawa North.

He said that the zone had being the only one that had not produced a governor since the creation of the state.

“We are not saying that competence should be sacrificed because there are a lot of qualified candidates contesting in all the political parties from the zone.

“We will mobilise for any party that gives its ticket to the candidate from the zone, particularly to a Mada son,” he said.

He explained that the group would give 100 per cent support to any party with a Mada candidate from Nasarawa North for the sake of equity, fairness and justice.

The president of the association said that the group would soon organise a debate for governorship aspirants of Mada extraction.

Umaru advised youths not to succumb to the manipulation by politicians to use them as thugs in the built up to the 2019 general elections. (NAN)
