A Lagos lawmaker, Mr ‘Bisi Yusuff, has urged gladiators in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) to campaign based on what each party had achieved while in government.

Yusuff, APC member representing Alimosho Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, threw the challenge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts (Local) spoke as political campaigns for 2019 general elections gather momentum.

According to him, both PDP and APC should tell the people what they have been able to do, not what they want to do, since both have been able to direct the affairs of the country.

Yusuff said: “The two leading political parties should present what they have done while leading the country and not what they will do in
the future.

“Each must come out with scorecards. What impacts have they made? Just like President Muhammadu Buhari is doing now, he is telling the people what he has been able to do.

“PDP has been there for 16 years, let the party come out with what it has done to justify the new projection. Our campaigns should not be about criticising and personal attacks, but about issues’’.

Yusuff, who is seeking reelection into the Assembly in 2019 elections, said that his campaign would be based on his achievements in his first
and second terms in the state parliament.

According to him, people and service to humanity will continue to be his priority if given another chance to represent his constituency in the assembly.

“My centre point as I have been doing is people, either in bill, constituency activities or empowerment. I have taken education, health and empowerment as cardinal agenda and people can see my work,” he said.

The lawmaker said he had, with foreign partnership, expanded the scope of de-worming in Lagos State.

“Before my intervention, there was about 45 per cent coverage in the de-worming exercise but now it (coverage) has covered 100 per cent, and I will continue to do it to capture new children,’’ he said.

Yusuff said that the next level of his healthcare mission would be targeted at women.

He said that many pregnant women lacked funds and had not been adequately taken care of.

“I have seen where I can help with genuine drugs for both ante-natal and post natal. The exercise will commence soon in Alimosho,’’ he said.

The lawmaker said that the exercise would capture as many pregnant women as possible.  (NAN)
