ALIYU Ogah, ‘Andoma of Doma’, has called on politicians to eschew bitterness and play by the rule as the country draws closer to the 2019 general elections.

The monarch made the call on Tuesday when he received Alhaji Tanko Zubairu, a House of Representatives aspirant, and his supporters in his Palace in Doma.

He said that politics of bitterness and hate should be jettisoned in the interest of the people and the development of the nation.

Politics of bitterness and hate, according to him, will make a mess of the country’s democracy.

He said the political atmosphere was being over-heated by the activities of some politicians who engage in hate speeches and character assassination of their perceived opponents ahead of the 2019 polls.

The monarch challenged politicians to ensure maturity, decorum, respect for others and play by the rule, for the country to have a successful transition in 2019.

Ogah charged those aspiring to public office to put the interest of the people above self, as that was the only way to meet the yearnings of the electorate.

Earlier, Zubairu, a former commissioner in the state, said he was at the palace to seek royal blessing as he embarks on consultation over his ambition.

Zubairu is aspiring for the Doma/Awe/Keana Federal Constituency on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).(NAN)
