SAMUEL Aledenu of St. Andrews Anglican Church, Isanlu, Lokoja, has cautioned politicians against hate speech before, during and after the electioneering campaigns for 2019 polls.

Aledenu made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Monday.

He said the spate at which politicians played around with hate speech could be destructive and advised them to be careful with the way they talk so as not to jeopardise the development of the country and sustenance of peaceful coexistence.

The cleric also urged politicians to live a worthy life, adding that exemplary lifestyle would bring about changes in the political system.

He urged Nigerians to strive toward flushing out bad politicians from the system by working toward developmental politics.

“We must rise to the challenge to make our country great again: we must love one another,’’ he said.

The cleric charged Nigerians, especially Christians to obtain their permanent voter cards to enable them to exercise their franchise during the 2019 elections.

“We can no longer leave our country in the hands of mediocre: we need to take the bull by the horn and rule our own world,” he said.

He prayed God to continually keep the nation as one, noting that the peace of Nigeria was never negotiable. (NAN)
