WOMEN from the Rivers East Senatorial District of Rivers State have organised a special prayer session for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and Magnus Ngei Abe, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, in the 2019 general elections.

The programme which had Bariyaah Abe, wife of the senator,  as guest of honour also prayed for the success of Chidi Wihioka, the member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Allwell Onyesoh, a chieftain of the APC, in the forthcoming general election.

The women, drawn from the eight local government areas that make up the Rivers East Senatorial District, further prayed for a peaceful 2019 general election as well as for the peace and progress of the state.

Speaking during the prayer session, which was held at Elele Town in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State, Wihioka, who commended Bariyaah Abe and other women for their involvement in the special prayer session, said this is the time they need to be on their knees to seek the face of God.

The federal lawmaker said: “When we started, we didn’t start by abusing people; we started by worshiping God, kneeling down to tell God, please lead us in this battle!!  God said I will fight the battle for you and you will have peace. We will have peace, God will fight the battle for us and give us peace, those who are against us will join and we will continue with it.

“This is the time we need to be on our knees to seek the face of God, and that is what we are doing. I want to thank you for this initiative, I want to thank you for the gifts, I want to thank you for everything and I want to thank all of us from our different senatorial district that have come here today.

“If it has not been from your mind, you would not have come from Obio/Akpor, Okrika, Ogu/Bolo, Etche, Omuma, Emuoha and even from Ikwerre and PHALGA.

“We have gathered here to give praise to the Almighty God and tell him that we don’t have any other person that we are worshiping, it is only him that we are worshiping. I tell people that without God, we are nothing. Anybody who think he is greater than God, know that the person has not started.”

Also speaking at the special prayer session, Bariyaah Abe, who distributed wrappers to over 200 widows present, said she decided to reach out to those in support and committed to the governorship ambition of Abe, her husband.

She said: “As u all know, my husband has declared to run for the office of Governor of Rivers State and as his wife, I have decided to reach out to all those who have been supporting and praying for him in this project. We are in Rivers East and I know that Rivers East is out of my senatorial district but I decided to come here to appreciate the women who have been praying for my husband.

“The women in this part of the state, the Rivers East Senatorial District, who have been holding prayers especially the widows, have been very committed to his ambition. They have invited me severally to come to different LGAs in this senatorial district but it has not been possible.

“I was invited to PHALGA, Emuoha, Obio Akpor, also invited to Ikwerre, but because of my schedule, I couldn’t honour any of those invitations. So, instead of going to all the LGAs, Ogu/Bolo, Okrika, PHALGA, Obio/Akpor, Omuma, Etche, I decided to come to Elele to visit the women and pray with them and also to thank them for all their supports and prayers to God for my husband.

“I decided to join hands with them here in Elele to pray with them and the leaders of this senatorial district decided to support me. So they sent out transportation, they sent out buses to the various LGAs in this senatorial district and all the women have gathered here today to have prayers with me.

“We’ve had a session of praise and worship committing the project into God’s hands and let me also use this opportunity to thank you all especially the widows because the widows have been very committed to this project.

“I am here to specially thank you all for your steadfastness and commitment to my husband’s ambition.”
