The Inter-Party Advisory Council made of 25 political parties ratifies the election of Peter Ameh as its national chairman

About 25 political parties in Nigeria under the aegis of Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has ratified the election of Peter Ameh, national chairman of Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, as its national chairman.

This ratification has therefore put to rest, the crisis surrounding the ascension of Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, to the office in controversial circumstances after the election held on July 24, 2015.

A statement issued by Godson Okoye, secretary-general of IPAC, on Thursday in Abuja, said Ameh, remains the chairman of IPAC.

Okoye said: “The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) hereby notify the public that the duly elected and lawful National Chairman of IPAC is Chief Peter Ameh.

The statement clarified that “Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim was wrongfully declared winner in the fundamentally flawed and consequently annulled IPAC election of 24/7/15.
“On 17/8/15, the General Body of IPAC upon reviewing the report of the Appeal Committee annulled the election of 24/7/15 and fixed IPAC chairmanship rerun election for 25/8/15.

“At the rerun election of 25/8/15, Chief Peter Ameh was overwhelming elected as National Chairman of IPAC, sworn in, inaugurated with other executives and handed over to. We are aware of the nefarious activities of misrepresentation being carried out by Mallam Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim. IPAC frowns upon the use of the media to propagate false information and call on Mallam Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim to desist from his impersonation and misrepresentation. We believe the general public will now be better informed on the undisputed fact that Chief Peter Ameh is the National Chairman of IPAC,” the statement said.
