President Muhammadu Buhari’s chances at the 2019 elections has suffered a huge set back as  60 youth support groups of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Jibrila Gazama have dumped the party and pitched tents with Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, whose ambition received a big boost.

Gazama who spoke on behalf of the groups, explained that they are  in total affirmation of the candidacy of Abubakar for the presidential elections coming up next February.

They restated inter alia their reasons to jump ship from the APC to include the clear and continued policy of divide and rule, lack of security and safety of lives and property in the Northern Nigeria as well as the “stupid, silly and despicable launching of the fake agenda of Next Level by General Buhari and the APC.”

They further said they were swayed and encouraged to leave and come to the PDP and support Abubakar because it had become the norm nationwide, especially among young people and women to seek alignment with him so that Nigeria can get working again.

They said they were impressed with Abubakar’s recently launched programme which specifically addressed the problems of Nigeria and the immediate and long term measures he will take to build a sustainable Nigeria.

Aliyu Bin Abbas, the national secretary and publicity secretary of the PDP, and the national youth leader of the party, who spoke on behalf of the party and Abubakar, welcomed them with open hearts and hands.

They reiterated their principles of equity, understanding and coordinated efforts at building the youths via job creation and tolerance for all segments of the community.

They were also assured of total recognition and amiable support from the PDP to enable them campaign vigorously for the esteemed election of Abubakar as president come 2019.
