Ahead of 2019 General Elections, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, commenced distribution of Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, to eligible voters in Ogidi Community, Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after commencement of the exercise, Vera Ezeaku, the INEC supervisor for Ogidi Zone, enjoined those that registered under Batches A and B to collect their PVCs at various designated centres.

“The exercise is to enable the masses to collect their PVCs especially, those that have not collected the reprint ones for correction as well as interstate changes,’’ Ezeaku said.

While emphasising the importance of the exercise, she urged those who registered and yet to collect their PVC’s to see it as their civic right to obtain the cards before commencement of scheduled elections in 2019.

“The PVC is very important and civic right that every citizen from 18years and above must obtain.

“The PVC collection is split into two different Batches A & B, Batch A is in progress now for those that registered between February and March 2018,’’ she added.

She, however, identified apathy on the part of those who registered and yet to collect their cards as some of the greatest challenges facing the commission.
