Although the incumbent governor defeated Halilu Modibbo, her younger brother, in the primary for the APC ticket, the first lady still wants electorate to vote for him

Aisha Buhari, the first lady, has called on the people of Adamawa State to vote for Mohammed Jibrila Bindow as governor and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress contestants, APC.

According to her, politics should be played with maturity and tolerance “for the future of our dear state.”

Halilu Modibbo, her younger brother, was schemed out during the APC primaries in Adamawa State.

Nevertheless, she also pleaded with them to vote for her husband in the forthcoming presidential election scheduled for Saturday 16 February 2019.

The first lady who is the chairperson of APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, made the plea at a campaign rally in Yola.

Buhari, represented by Mohammed Buba Marwa, a retired brigadier-general and former military administrator of Lagos State, and chairman of the Central Working Committee (APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team), urged the people to vote the APC at all levels in the coming elections for their benefits.

She urged the APC stakeholders in the state to “put aside your differences and grievances to support the party and our governorship  candidate, Mohammed Jibrila Bindow as well as other APC contestants to clinch the state.”

According to Marwa, Bindow and Modibbo, who contested for the party’s ticket “are both the same to her and regard them as her brothers.”

The first lady who hails from Adamawa further explained further: “The fact that my younger brother (Dr. Halilu Modibbo), competed during the last APC governorship primaries which brought about the emergence of Bindow as the governorship candidate of the party in Adamawa state doesn’t mean that I’m not going to support governor Bindow.

“Governor Bindow and Dr. Modibbo are all the same to me and they are all my younger brothers, we should play politics with maturity and tolerance for the future of our dear state and our nation.”

She commended the APC government in the fight against corruption and the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, adding that before President Buhari came to power, seven Local Government Areas in the state were under the control of the insurgents.

Buhari expressed satisfaction that since the intervention of her husband, the affected council areas have been liberated by the Nigerian troops.

She also added that the fight against corruption has yielded positively and impacted on the economy of the nation even as she urged the people to vote for the APC which had done well in the state and in the entire country.

Buhari also urged all Nigerians to vote wisely and stay away from any activities that could threaten the peace of the nation before, during and after the general elections.

As the mother of the nation, she admonished all politicians in the country to play the game according to the rules and regulations stipulated by the constitution.
