ALOR women in Idemili South local government area, LGA have called on Governor Willie Obiano to direct that the town union election be conducted to promote peace within the community.

The women made the call at their annual August meeting held at the community Town Hall, Nkwo Market Alor.

They beckoned on the governor to intervene in the people’s leadership crisis that led to a lack of peace in the town.

In a speech, Grace Uche Nwoye, woman leader, expressed regret that since her tenure, women had been praying for peace to return to Alor.

She said that the community in the last three years was administered by handpicked caretaker committee, which she described as undemocratic.

“In our community, Alor, there is no peace. Since three years we assumed office, we have been fasting and praying for peace to reign in this town,’’ Nwoye said.

The woman leader noted that in a bid to restore peace to the area, Alor women had just concluded fasting and prayer for divine intervention in their community.

We pleaded with government to stop appointing caretaker president-general saying that the government should know the calibre of people that come around for such appointments.

Ifeoma Uzokwe, deputy woman leader, urged women to promote peace and use it as a tool to unify their families and people.

Uzokwe said that raising formidable children and homes will bring peace in the community and Anambra State and discourage youths from social vices.
