THE National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Anambra State Chapter has set up a seven-man committee to work on welfare of workers in Ayamelum LGA.

They will also work toward conduct of fresh election within three months.

The decision followed immediate dissolution of the executive members of NULGE, Ayamelum chapter over election crisis that led to their inability to conduct fresh polls in the branch since 2016.

The dissolution is contained in a letter signed by Anambra State, Segun Netufo, NULGE principal secretary, that he released to workers in the LGA.

“Sequel to the NULGE Ayamelum branch election crisis in 2016 and our inability to conduct branch election in Ayamelum local branch, I am directed to inform you that the executive committee members of NULGE Ayamelum Local Branch are hereby dissolved.’’

Patrick Ononye, the outgoing Chairman of NULGE LGA, said the dissolution was a welcome development, stressing that the election of a new EXCO in Ayamelum was long overdue.

“I am optimistic that the committee will discharge their duties effectively by conducting free and fair election into the new executive committee, within the stipulated three months,’’ Ononye said.

Benedict Ugbagu, secretary of the committee, assured that they would carry out the assignment given to them with diligence.

“The committee will always protect the interest of the workers. We solicit for your co-operation to enable us to carry out the assignment effectively,’’ he said.

The committee has Peter Omatali, as the chairman, Ugbagu as secretary.

Other members are Amechi Nzegwu, Chinyere Ukaegbu, Anthony Nnezianya, Ifeanyi Uzochukwu and Francis Dilinyelu.
