THE All Progressives Congress, APC, has won a majority of the seats in the houses of assembly of Katsina, Ekiti, and Osun states in the state legislative poll conducted on Saturday.
Emir of Ilorin’s daughter loses as APC clears all seats in Kwara.
In Kwara State, the APC won all 24 seats of the state House of Assembly. According to the result declared on Sunday by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mallam Attahiru Madami, the PDP failed to win any seat.
The Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly, Matthew Okedare and Princess Aishat Sulu-Gambari, a daughter of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, were defeated by the APC candidates.
Okedare, who is representing Lanwa /Ejidongari Constituency on the platform of the PDP, lost to Mr Bello Olanrewaju of the APC.
Bello scored 8,047 votes to defeat the deputy speaker who polled 2,493 votes in the election.
Also, Sulu-Gambari of the PDP lost the Magaji Ngeri/Ilorin Central seat to Abubakar Olawoyin of the APC, who polled 17,338. Sule-Gambari scored 7,602 votes in the election.
APC becomes minority in Oyo
The APC emerged a minority party in the Oyo State House of Assembly, winning five seats out of 31 constituencies so far released by the INEC in the 32-member legislative arm of government.
In the results of Saturday’s poll the opposition, PDP won more than two-third majority needed for effective legislative business.
It won 25 seats while the Action Democratic Party won only one.
The result of the Ibadan South-West Constituency II was still being awaited as of the time of sending this report.
APC leads in Katsina
In Katsina State, out of the 34 seats in the state House of Assembly, INEC on Sunday released the results of 22 constituencies, which were all won by the APC.
The Speaker of the House, Tasi’u Musa Maigari, from Zango Constiutency, was re-elected.
APC wins 22 Assembly seats in Osun, PDP 3, one inconclusive
The APC also won 22 out of the 26 available seats in the Osun State House of Assembly. The PDP won in three constituencies, while one constituency was inconclusive.
According to the House of Assembly election results obtained from INEC on Sunday, among others, the APC’s Popoola Olufemi was elected for Boripe and Boluwaduro Constituency, after polling 19,161 votes to defeat the PDP’s Yomi Aina, who got 6,754 votes.
In Ifelodun Constituency, the APC’s Mulikat Adeola with 18,191 votes was elected after defeating the PDP’s Abidoye Asimiyu, who got 5,462 votes. In Ila Constituency, Adebisi Adelani of the APC got 12,103 votes to defeat the PDP’s Lasisi Jimoh, who got 6,334 votes.
In Ifedayo Constituency, the APC’s Abioye Elizabeth got 5, 096 votes to beat Funmilayo Olasehinde of the PDP, who got 2,818 votes. Irepodun/Orolu Constituency seat was won by Olateju Babatunde of the APC who got 28,998 votes to beat PDP’s Wole Quadri that secured 7,968 votes.
Yinka Michael of the APC won Odo-Otin Constituency with 13,619 votes to beat the PDP candidate, Wale Egbedun, who polled 8,304. In Olorunda State Constituency, Akande Kunle of the APC got 20,271 votes to defeat PDP candidate, Kunle Olaniyan, who got 5,998.
Osogbo Constituency seat was won by Badamasi Olatunde of the APC who got 31,193 votes to defeat Dele Lawal of the PDP, who got 7,644. In Atakumosa East Constituency, Komolafe Festus of the APC got 16,912 votes to defeat James Ayodeji of the PDP. Ayodeji got 7,610 votes.
But in Obokun Constituency, Adeyemi Adewumi of the PDP polled 10,257 votes to defeat Bosun Oyintiloye of the APC, who secured 9,692.
In Ede North Constituency, Kofoworola Babajide of the PDP got 12,643 votes to defeat the APC’s Akinloye Abiodun, who got 12,993 votes. Stephen Akanfe of the PDP polled 12,025 votes to clinch Ede South Constituency seat. He defeated the APC’s Nurein who garnered 8, 854votes.
Ekiti: APC wins 25 seats, one inconclusive
INEC in Ekiti State confirmed that the APC candidates won 25 of the 26 House of Assembly seats in the state.
INEC’s State Head, Voter Education and Publicity, Taiwo Gbadegesin, said election in the remaining state constituency was inconclusive.
Gbadegesin, in a statement said, “Ekiti East Assembly Constituency I election has yet to be concluded due to disruptions in four of the polling units of the constituency.”
A summary of the state assembly elected candidates released by INEC listed the new APC lawmakers as Lucas Oluwatoyin Felix (Ado I); Balogun Adebambi (Ado II); Olajide Ayobami (Efon) and Akanle Olunnole (Ekiti East II).
Others are Ayokunle Yemisi (Ekiti Southwest I); Olatunji Joseph (Ekiti Southwest II); Akingbolu Tajudeen (Ekiti West I); Oyetola Bode-Adeoye (Ekiti West II); Olubunmi Adelugba (Emure); Okuyiga Adeteju (Gbonyin); Babatunde Fawekun (Ido/Osi I); Akinoso Emmanuel (Ido/Osi II); Ojo Ademola (Ijero); Funminiyi Afuye (Ikere I) and Idowu Babatunde (Ikere II).
They also include Gboyega Aribisogan (Ikole I); Adeoye Aribasoye (Ikole II); Olutope Ogunleye (Ilejemeje); Olanrewaju Akindele (Irepodun/Ifelodun I), Hakeem Jamiu (Irepodun/Ifelodun II); Moses Ajayi (Ise/Orun); Adeyemi Ajibade (Moba I); Arubu Kola (Moba II); Awoyemi Reuben (Oye I) and Abraham Ogunyemi (Oye II).
Gbadegesin stated that official figures for the polls would be released when the election for the 26th seat was concluded
In Anambra, APGA gets 24 out of 30 seats, PDP 6
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Andy Uba, suffered a setback in the house of assembly poll.
The two did not only lose in their areas, their political party, the APC failed to secure a seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The assembly results confirmed by the Head, Voter Education and Publicity of INEC in the state, Mr Leo Nkedife, showed that the two APC leaders lost in their state constituencies.
Nkedife said the results were announced at the various INEC offices in the 21 local government areas of the state, which served as collation centres for the respective constituencies.
The PDP won Anaocha 1 state constituency, home area of the vice presidential candidate of the PDP in the February 23 poll, Mr Peter Obi.
The PDP, also won in Nnewi South II, Ekwusigo, Ogbaru I, Ogbaru II, and Onitsha North I constituencies.
The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state won 24 seats in the assembly poll. Anambra State has a 30-member House of Assembly.
APC wins three seats, PDP, four in Bayelsa
The APC clinched three house of assembly seats in Balyelsa State, while the PDP won four out of the 24 seats in the state house of assembly.
Among others, Brass Constituency II, the APC candidate Timi Agasa, polled 10,958 votes to emerge winner while the PDP candidate, Esau Andrew got 6,833 votes. The APC lost in Brass Constituency 3 to the PDP as Abraham Ngobere of the PDP was declared winner.
In Southern, Ijaw constituency II, the PDP polled 8,978 while the APC had 491 votes. In Ekeremor Constituency 1, Grace Ekiotene of the PDP lost to the APC candidate, Ayakpo Wilson who polled a total votes of 17, 428 to the PDP candidate’s 11,184
In Kolga Constituency 2, the PDP got 5,693 while the APC secured 2,697. The PDP candidate, Wisdom Fafi has been declared winner.
Nembe constituency II was won by the APC as its candidate, Edward Irigha polled 8,167 votes to the 401 votes polled by the PDP candidate, Ingolwowari Gold. Results for other constituencies were still being collated as the time of sending this report.
Meanwhile, state Governor, Seriake Dickson, condemned what he described as the army’s invasion of Bayelsa and the flagrant violation of the right of the people to vote.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations , Fidelis Soriwei, on Sunday, quoted him as criticising the conduct of some soldiers and officers while speaking as a special guest in an interactive live programme on Radio Bayelsa, Yenagoa.
PDP clears all 24 in Enugu
The PDP won all the 24 seats of the Enugu State House of Assembly.
Among the winners are the incumbent Speaker, Hon. Edward Ubosi; Paul Nnajiofor (Nkanu East); Hon Chima Obieze (Ezeagu constituency); Deputy Leader, Hon. Onyenye Ugwu, among others. – Punch
