THE flag-bearer of the APC in the forthcoming bye-election into the Daura Senatorial District, Alhaji Ahmed Babba-Kaita, has pledged to  consolidate on the earlier gains made by his predecessor, late Sen. Mustafa Bukar.

Babba-Kaita made the declaration during the formal flag-off of the Zonal campaign of the party in Daura on Friday preparatory to the conduct of the bye-election scheduled for Aug. 11, 2018.

He described the positive impacts made by late Bukar as worthy of emulation especially his youth empowerment programmes and agricultural initiatives for farmers.

It would be recalled that Bukar died on April 4, 2018 after a brief illness.

Babba-Kaita assured that he would strive to actualise the passage of the legislative bill seeking for the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Daura as earlier presented by the late senator.

He said another area of concern was to ensure the continuation of the reconstruction of Dallaji Dam in Bindawa Local Government Area.

The APC senatorial candidate stressed that he would ensure agricultural revolution in the area through the provision of incentives to farmers and strives to sponsor bills and motions that would further accelerate the socio-economic development of the nation.

Babba-Kaita, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kankiya, Kusada and Ingawa federal constituency, also pledged to support the executive in promoting harmonious relationship between it and the legislature.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Munnir Yakubu, the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa, the State Party Chairman, Alhaji  Shitu Masalaha and top government officials and loyal party members.

NAN also reports that Babba-Kaita won the APC primaries held a week ago ahead of the election to fill the vacant seat in the Daura zone senatorial district following the death of Bukar who represented the zone. (NAN)
