THE Anambra House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has mandated all Ministries and Parastatal Agencies to ensure that funds appropriated to them is judiciously utilised to ensure accountability.

The committee said this when the management of Works’ Ministry, Awka appeared before it for verification.

Charles Ezeani, the chairman of the Committee, said the 1999 Constitution as amended empowered the Committee to verify the audited accounts of every organ of the state government annually.

“This is with a view to ensuring transparency in disbursement of government fund,” he added.

The committee enjoined government ministries and Parastatal agencies to always follow due process in disbursement of government fund.

After the verification of 2016 audited accounts of the Ministry of Works, the Committee asked the management staff to come back with all necessary documents that would help them to do their work.

Marcel Ifejiofor, commissioner for Works, commended the committee for living up to their constitutional responsibilities.

Emeka Ohuoha, the permanent secretary in the ministry, re-assured them that the ministry would meet all their requirements.
