Anambra State government appoints candidates into Justice of Peace Corps for the year 2017/2018

 

ANALI Chude, attorney-general, Anambra State, says appointment into the Justice of Peace Corps are for people with unquestionable integrity.

He said this at the swearing-in of no fewer than 100 candidates for Justice of Peace corps in Awka on February 6, at the ministry’s headquarters at the Udoji Secretariat.

According to him, all those engaged should seek to promote and protect the rights of the masses within their jurisdiction.

Chude outlined the duties of Justice of the Peace to include Issuance of warrant, bail, witnessing, affidavit swearing, certifying documents, statutory declaration and visits to the police stations.

He admonished the candidates to uphold the confidence the government reposed in them and promote peace in order to move the state forward.

In a speech at the ceremony,  Justice Peter Umeadi, chief judge,  while swearing in the 1st batch thanked the government and attorney-general who found them worthy to be so appointed.

He urged the participants to be the `Peace Officers’ in their respective communities.

Umeadi later announced that the 2nd Batch would be sworn-in on February 13.
