THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed shock by the news of the sudden death of Abubakar Audu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the governorship election of Kogi State held on Saturday, November 21.

Audu was leading in the election results released so far by the Independent Nation Electoral Commission, INEC, which also declared the gubernatorial election inconclusive, when he died on Sunday, November 22, in Ogbonicha, Ofu Local Government, Kogi State. “At this critical moment, the PDP refrains from comments on the conduct of the election. That is not important now. What is important at this point is the sanctity of human life. Our deepest thoughts and prayers go to the family of Prince Abubakar Audu and indeed, the APC fold,” the party said in a statement issued by Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary of the PDP.

The state said further that Uche Secondus, acting national chairman of the party also charged the PDP members in Kogi and across the nation to pray for Audu, his family and loved ones, as the country mourned with them and the people of Kogi state over their monumental loss.
