Badagry INEC tasks stakeholders on display of voters’ register

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has held a sensitisation meeting with stakeholders in Badagry on the display of voters’ register which kicks off on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the display of names of registered voters will hold in all the 8,465 polling units in Lagos State from Nov. 6 to Nov. 12, 2018.

NAN reports that the meeting was attended by polital parties’ officials, security operatives, traditional chiefs, representatives of National Orientation Agency and eligible voters

Mr Oluwole Babalola, INEC Electoral Officer in Badagry, said that the meeting was held to diseminate information to the public on the exercise.

“The essence of the exercise is for voters to make objections to their names or any mistake committed during registration exercise.

“During the seven-day exercise, our staff will be at Registration Areas with all uncollected Permanent Voters Card (PVC) for collection.

“I urge you to tell anybody from your areas who has not collected his/her PVC to use this opportunity to collect them,” he said.

The INEC official urged security agencies to protect INEC staff during the exercise.

Mr Tunde Hunpatin, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Badagry, said that the 2019 general elections was crucial and assured of the cooperation of all stakeholders to make the exercise a successful one.

Also speaking, Mr Gafar Muritala, All Progressives Party (APC) Secretary in Badagry, said that the party would go back to their wards and educate members on the need to participate in the exercise.

He commended the INEC for always carrying party officials along in all it’s exercises.
