Bayelsa TUC gets new leadership

THE Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Bayelsa chapter, has elected its new leadership.

The TUC National President, Mr Quadri Olaleye, who spoke at the sixth triennial state delegate conference on Wednesday in Yenagoa, charged the new executive to ensure teamwork.

Olaleye, who was represented by Mr Ebaho Anthony, the National Assistant Secretary-General, said that working together was necessary in order to improve the welfare of workers.

The president also urged the new leadership to be focused and committed to delivering on its promises to members.

The new state Chairman of the congress, Mr Julius Laye, pledged to work for the general interest of workers.

Mr Emmanuel Ipribo, the Secretary of the electoral committee, said that the election of the new leadership was done through consensus.

Ipribo listed members of new executive to include Mr Julius Laye, Chairman; Mr Adokeme Perelaye, Vice-Chairman; Mr Bright Amatoru, Secretary; Mr Ogbotobo Fielibe, Financial Secretary and Mr Allagoa Anderson, Treasurer.

Others were Mr Abah Dressman, Assistant Secretary; Mr Ogbe Temple, Auditor; Mr Ebredemi Oyinemi, Public Relations Officer; Mrs Ehmatie Frangsca, Women Wing Chairperson and Mrs Prewanagha Fagha, Women Wing Secretary.

Mr John Ndiomu, the state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), hailed the conduct of the election.

“The conduct indicated that there is much unity amongst members of the congress. It was a good one, and in unity, they will move forward,” Ndiomu said.

Also speaking after the inauguration, Mr Tari Dounana, the immediate past Chairman of TUC in the state, urged the new executive to work hard for the betterment of workers. (NAN)
