Imo State High Court nullifies suspension of five lawmakers in the Imo State House of Assembly
THESE are not the best of times for Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who lost out in the power game to get Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law to be the All Progressive Congress, APC, guber candidate.
He lost again today as The Imo State High Court nullified the suspension of five lawmakers in a case Okorocha was listed as the defendant alongside Imo State House of Assembly and Acho Ihim, its speaker.
Justice Goddy Anunihu, the presiding judge declared that the processes that led to the indefinite suspension of the five lawmakers as putting the horse cart before the horse.
According to the judge, the three defendants are to pay the plaintiffs N8 million.
The lawmakers are Chiji Collins, Isreal Nnataraoye, Nkenna Nzerue, Uche Oguwuike and Donatus Onuigwe, representing Isiala Mbano, Mbaitoli, Ikeduru, Oru East and Oru West constituencies in the State.
They were all suspended in the aftermath of the crisis relating to the impeachment of Eze Madumere, deputy governor of Imo State after being accused of unparliamentary conduct. The impeachment of the deputy governor has since been nullified by the court.
