FOLLOWING the expulsion of  Goodluck Obi, general secretary for lack of integrity as a disciplinary measure, Nigeria’s foremost pro-democracy group, Campaign for Democracy, CD, at a special convention recently held has elected a new secretary.

The group, following the recommendation of a five-man disciplinary panel which deliberated on the imperatives, unanimously elected Ifeanyi Odili as the new general secretary, and advised members of the public to desist from dealing with the expelled general secretary, in any capacity, as a member of the CD.

Also in a related development at the special convention, CD has also condemned the recent demand by of fresh bailout funds by the Nigerian Governors Forum from the Federal Government, adding that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to investigate the utilization of the previous bailout funds released in times past.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari has twice rescued states from bankruptcy, releasing bailout fund to facilitate salary payments amongst other imperative needs but some states are still recorded to be owing salaries.

While CD also endorsed the ongoing anti-corruption campaign of the federal government, it also demanded an immediate release of the report of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led panel of investigation, on Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the federal government, SGF, and Ayo Oke, Nigeria Inteeligence Agency, NIA.
