ABDULLAHI Yaman, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says the desire for change in Kwara must come through the ballot box.
Yaman made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.
He said that the need for change in the political space would not come through any other means but the ballot box.
He expressed commitment to the Kwara project toward a positive change, adding that Kwara must join the committee of developed states in the country.
“The change we desire in Kwara State is long overdue and we must all work together toward ensuring that the age-long struggle is actualised through the ballot box and not bullet.’’
He said that the major concern of well-meaning Nigerians had been what the outcome of the forthcoming general elections at all levels would be, especially in the state.
Yaman however urged the people of Kwara not to be afraid, adding that the election would be rancour free since the people were poised for change “and change they will see’’.
He said that Kwara was one of the economically backward states in the country, adding that when he emerged as the governor of the state, everything would be done to salvage the situation.
“I am championing the liberation of Kwara from an individual who has put the state in his pocket, and this is why I throw my hat into the ring to liberate the state,’’ he said.
Yaman said that he remained committed to the aspiration and programmes of the APC at all levels and would not betray the trust of the people.
He expressed disgust at some individuals whom he described as selfish, saying that all they were interested in was to play the politics of deceit and maladministration at the expense of the masses.
The governorship aspirant said that he was a detribalised Nigerian with strong affection for the downtrodden and would not allow the state to be polarised when he emerged as the governor.
He called on spirited people of Kwara to join hand with him in his quest to govern the state on the platform of APC, saying “my mandate will salvage the state’’. (NAN)– Sept. 14, 2018 @ 9:15 GMT |
