Massive crowd join Chimaroke Nnamani, former governor of Enugu State as he treks the Streets to begin campaign

By Petrus Obi

There was human traffic, as residents continued to troop out to identify with former governor Chimaroke Nnamani as he flagged off his campaign on the streets of Enugu Monday.

Known for his house-to-house campaign style Nnamani the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) candidate for the Enugu East Senatorial Seat once again took the zone by storm.

From his residence in Agbani the leader of the Ebeano political group in his usual style trekked and interacted with the people at the local market Square, Eke Agbani from where he drove to Umueze, Obe and Ozalla.

The intimidating campaign train stormed Garki in a convoy as the political godfather entered the Enugu Metropolis in style.

It was like a triumphant entry following recent speculations that the former governor was sick, incapacitated and cannot take part in the elections.

His opponents had gone to town claiming victory in his absence. Thus his return which was long awaited and his ability to trek the streets again on campaign brought Enugu to a halt.

From Garki to Mayor, Kenyetta and Obiagu roundabout it was like a mass movement. Most journalists were forced to join the trek as the political master beckoned, calling almost each person by his name.

The Ebeano campaign train continued through Onu Asata, Ogui Road, Ogui junction, 82 Army Division, Abakpa Nike Road to Umuchigbo Nike, where he paid a visit to the Speaker of the Enugu State Assembly Rt. Hon Edward Ubosi.

Trekking through most of the targeted areas the former governor who is set to reclaim his Senatorial Seat which he clearly won four years ago but was rigged out continued his campaign tour to Ugwogo, Ikem and Neke in Isi-uzor LGA.

At Isi-uzor he visited the residence of the State PDP chairman Chief Augustine Nnamani at Neke.

For the majority of Enugu people who are supporting Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the PDP it was a wonderful outing and the beginning of another victory for the PDP.

But for the opposition it was a major setback and disappointment that the dreaded grassroots mobilizer is back with a bang.

With his melodious political jingles renting the air, Chimaroke who looked much younger and refreshed continued his journey to meet face to face with the electorate in Trans Ekulu.

Returning from Isi-uzor the train stormed Timber Shed Abakpa, Trans Ekulu, Holy Ghost, Ziks Avenue, Coal Camp, Agbani Road, Amechi road, Eke Otu, before retiring to his Agbani country home late at night.

For those who thinks the political grand master is done, he says this is just the beginning.

The former governor was quoted as saying that what he did was to announce his arrival promising that the main campaign train would soon take centre stage. – Everyday News
