Asuquo Udobong of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has urged government at all level to place premium on the wellbeing of every Nigerian citizen.

Udobong, who is also the Stake President of the church, Agege Stake, made this plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

He said that the state of the nation had become more worrisome to an average Nigerian, urging the government to place priority on the basic needs of its citizens.

“All tiers of government should do more to move the economy forward in order to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses.

“We need things that will make our economy to grow, the welfare of the people is very important,’’ he said.

He urged political leaders to eschew ungodly living and endeavour to emulate Christ in their conducts and discharge of duties.

“My advice is that they should emulate Christ because power belongs to God.

“Whoever desires to lead God’s people must emulate Christ in whatever they are doing even in their media campaigns,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to continue to support and pray for the country’s leaders to enable them succeed in their assignments.

“Leaders are chosen by God and they deserve the respect, support and prayers of the led instead of pulling them down with criticisms.

“It was only through prayers that leaders can receive divine guidance from God to lead successfully,’’ he said.

He urged Nigerians to draw closer to God, saying that the 2019 general elections would be successful.

“We need to draw ourselves closer to God. All will be well for Nigerians, elections will come and go and the country will be at peace,” he said. (NAN)
