Sally Mbanefo, commissioner for the Diaspora Affairs, receives outstanding personality award

 

 

SALLY Mbanefo, commissioner for The Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artwork, Culture and Tourism,  has joined 15 others to receive award of outstanding personalities in humanitarian services.

The award presentation, which took place at the Best Western Meloch Hotels, Awka, was organised by Miles Magazine and Media Inc., Canadian leading Christian Magazine.

Mbanefo commended Miles Group for making her a recipient of the noble award.

She restated popular lines by John F Kennedy: “if a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich’’.

The commissioner also maintained that this had always been her driving force with regards to the services to humanity.

Mrs emphasised: “the Sally Mbanefo Foundation, TSM was born out of resolve she made to help those who do not have.

“TSM having partnered with other international NGOs has contributed a lot to many charitable works ranging from free medical mission, education and others.’’

“TSMs is committed to collaborating with Miles Group in the launch of mobile clinic in the rural communities in Anambra State,’’ the commissioner said.

Mbanefo, then commended the Miles Group for supporting the water for life project in her ministry.

“The water filter is second to none, it has excellent filtering mechanism; has the capacity to deal with harmful bacteria and protozoan cyst, making drinking water safe.

“The water cannot be compared to any sachet water.’’

She, then, called on well-meaning Ndi Anambra, especially those in The Diaspora to emulate and join hands in making Anambra State a better place.

Publisher, Miles Magazine, Bishop Don Ifepe said the award was an opportunity to bring people together every year to celebrate the easterners.

He noted that the magazine made a lot of impact in Canada saying: “he has come home to help to tell the story of the Igbo man to the world through Miles magazine’’.

The magazine, being currently distributed in seven countries, has the eastern race as the engine that fuels a lot of sectors of the Nigerian economy to include; social life, politics, business and movies.

“Launch of the water for life project will bring Ndi Anambra good clean water,’’ he said.

Other recipients of the award include Sen. Victor Umeh, Igwe Emeka Ilouno and Helping Hand Foundation.
