THE Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Umar Muri, has directed operatives to ensure strict compliance with the government’s 24-hour movement restriction in the state.

The Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, who made this known in a statement on Friday in Kaduna, said this was to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Kaduna state government imposed a 24-hour curfew effective from Thursday until further notice.

“The Police Command in compliance with the directive on the enforcement of curfew/social distancing order wishes to inform the general public that, it has commenced the enforcement as directed by the Kaduna State government.

“The CP Umar Muri directs that all officers and men of the command are to ensure that the directive is fully adhered to in order to maintain social safety within their areas of responsibility.

“The command advises the general public to adopt the alternative dispute resolution measures in solving minor infringement rather than troop into police stations at a time when the country is battling with a public health emergency.”

Jalige urged members of the public to call these numbers: 07039675856, 08075391105 during any emergency on a 24-hour basis, saying that a team of officers would be readily available to respond to any of such calls promptly.

He enjoined the good people of Kaduna State to strictly adhere to all rules on social distancing.

“As the command will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or group of persons who attempt to violate this order within the ambit of the law.

He called on all the residents to be law-abiding by complying with the restriction orders on social or religious gatherings so as to enable the state government to tackle the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. (NAN)
