The monarch of Epeland, Lagos, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, on Friday urged eligible people who had not registered to utilise the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to do so, to vote in the coming elections.

Animashaun gave the advice in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe, Lagos State, urging the people to also collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).

“The PVC is the only weapon that eligible Nigerians can use to exercise their civic responsibility to decide who should lead them during 2019 general elections.

“It is only when you have your PVC that you can vote for your candidate; without the card, you can’t vote.

“I want all and sundry to get their card to vote in the right candidate that will develop the nation,” the traditional leader said.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for voter registration till Aug. 31, after which it will only continue after the 2019 general elections.

Animashaun also appealed to youths to support the state government efforts to make Lagos a better place to live in.

“Youth are the major determinant, they have the larger population in the country and I charge them to deploy their energy to positive change by voting in the right candidate.

“Anyone finding it difficult to register should channel his or her complaints to the appropriate authority.

“For those who cannot find their cards at the collection centres, they should lodge their complaints with the authority concerned,” he said.

Animashaun applauded the Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration for massive infrastructure development across the state. (NAN)
